Thinking about resolutions
Saturday, December 30th, 2006I usually say that I don’t like New Year’s resolutions (’cause they’re such an easy way to fail) but end up making plans anyway. This time, I’ll call those goals what they are and work at them!
So, here are my resolutions so far:
- Exercise regularly.
- Eat well.
- Take advantage of SparkPeople’s resources to keep myself motivated to be healthy.
- Find more time for writing – fiction and letters/emails.
Probably what you’d expect to see. Oh, and of course I want to write on my blog regularly.
Wow, the day flew by!
Monday, December 25th, 2006I managed to get in a nap this morning, after the gift-opening of course.
Some of the highlights: The Devil Wears Prada DVD, new Corelle diningware, new mugs – I think word has spread that I drink tea a lot during the winter – and a new MP3 player (Creative Zen Microphoto). We have lots of leftovers, including more baking than we should eat, and the family visits aren’t over yet! Tomorrow, I’ll see my grandpa for the first time in quite a while, and listen to his intriguing stories.
Also on the to-do list for the 26th, though we’ll see how much is actually done: give the puppy a bath (regular baths prevent excessive shedding), organise the gifts and remove the packaging, and make time for a bit of writing!
Buh-bye sleep, hello Christmas!
Monday, December 25th, 2006I don’t know whether I’m so excited that I can’t sleep or maybe my body’s just not in its normal rhythm because of holiday treats – probably the latter – but it’s 4:58 am as I type this sentence. Ah well, lots of time to check my stocking, read message boards, play computer games (just downloaded Tropix last night) and maybe even read a book (I have Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella).
On a sad note, I just saw on the BBC news website that James Brown has died. He wasn’t a huge influence on me and I really only know the title of one song that I enjoy by him, but like other entertainers I guess I felt he’d always be there. I don’t like the thought that his exuberance is no more.
Merry almost-Christmas!
Saturday, December 23rd, 2006Anyone still have shopping to do tomorrow? I got my last present today. Stocking stuffers don’t count in my books (and I only need one more item, anyway) so that means I’m done! Time to sit back and relax, between visits to various family members, of course.
Oh, and I’ll be checking my email a lot, waiting to see when HP tech support will help me with the fact that my laptop battery isn’t charging any more. I doubt anyone will be there over the holidays, though. I’ll try to forget about it and focus on happier things. Bring on the eggnog and chocolate!
