Merry Christmas!

“God bless us, everyone!” :)

Four days left!

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I didn’t get to baking today like I expected, but we did some shopping and I attended a holiday chat with other fans of Katie MacAlister. And I’m back from a quick trip to the grocery store to get a turkey since I started to worry there wouldn’t be time to thaw in the fridge (which is apparently the best method of defrosting).

Must start baking tomorrow! The rest of the gift-wrapping can be done in an evening! :)

Getting closer…

Five full days till Christmas! :D

Bit of shopping to do tomorrow and maybe I can get started on some baking.

I’ve never looked for cookie recipes related to Christmas because there’s always someone else in the family who bakes regularly, but it could be a fun tradition to start. I’ll work with sugar cookies, butter tarts and candy-cane cookies first. If there’s time, I’ll also attempt shortbread cookies and Nanaimo bars. And hopefully I won’t eat too much of what I make!

Brr, only 10 sleeps!

We’re at the start of an unusually cold week, so I’m guessing there’ll be more time at home for wrapping gifts and watching Christmas specials. I’ll venture out when I have to, but I’m not into really freezing weather!

Our tree is up, and pictures of the decorating process can be found in a Christmas 2008 photo album in my gallery. I’m loving a new addition this year: an ornament that acts as an on-off switch (and dimmer) for the lights on the tree. :)

Sixteen days to go!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Today I’ll be searching for a sturdy tree stand and hope to find a good selection of Christmas trees still available tomorrow afternoon at the Rotary sale. All the gifts that needed to be mailed on their way to the recipients, so that leaves a couple of “last-minute” cards to post and wrapping of the rest of the presents! I won’t stress about stocking stuffers yet because there’s plenty of time and I’m likely to find what I want on grocery shopping days. :)
