RIP Mr. Charters

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

I only met John Charters a few times at the newspaper office when he submitted his regular column, but I had great respect for the former school teacher and revered citizen of my hometown.

You can read about him in this Castlegar News article.

I went for embedding this time (over the official video in great quality) ’cause I’m crazy like that. ;)

This song is haunting me!

I’m hoping that listening to Bowling for Soup’s “1985″ will get the chorus out of my head. Sometimes the strategy works when I have a song stuck in my head, but other times it backfires by getting more of the lyrics into my brain. Oy.

Here’s the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnYm0EmyDVU (Boo to disabled embedding! Though it’s not the best music video out there, anyway…)

In case you’ve never met her

Say hello to my granny car. I don’t use the term from a lack of respect; not only is a Buick Regal unlikely to be classified in anyone’s mind as a sporty vehicle, this one really was owned by a “granny” for the first decade or so. I think that’s one of the reasons I like it a lot – she drove it far less than your average owner would and kept it in great condition. With only one other person buying it before it came to our home, it makes a really great family car.

Three shirts over three days, each making the baby bump appear a little bit different. Interesting…
